What is holding your business back?

Almost every company has things that make progress harder, slower or more expensive than it needs to be.

It may be people, routines, organisation, lack of resources, old decisions – or simply ways of working that no one questions anymore.

I help business leaders identify what is really holding the business back, put it into perspective and decide what deserves attention first.

What you already sense

You often know already

As a business leader, you usually have a fairly good sense of where the business is not working quite as well as it could.

The challenge is that everyday operations get in the way. So certain issues gradually become accepted.

01

A process that has become unnecessarily complicated

02

A person or function creating a bottleneck

03

A product portfolio that has grown without a clear direction

04

Pricing or customer agreements that are rarely challenged

05

Too few resources where they matter most

06

Decisions that keep being discussed without ever being resolved

Individually, these issues may seem relatively small. Together, they can hold a business back significantly.

The approach

Identify what matters before trying to fix it

My approach does not begin with a predefined solution.

It begins by creating a simple and honest picture of where the business stands.

01

Company Scan

10 minutes

You assess the business across key areas.

It creates an initial picture of areas that deserve attention.

02

Focused conversation

2 hours

We review the scan, ask questions and look for patterns.

We identify the few issues that matter most.

03

Clearer priorities

The outcome is a clearer view of what is holding the business back.

And what deserves attention first.

Potential friction

Where should we look?

There is rarely one simple explanation.

The most important opportunities and obstacles often sit across several parts of the business.

01

Market and customers

Is it clear where the company creates the greatest customer value – and why customers choose you?

02

Products and portfolio

Does the portfolio have a clear direction, or has it simply grown over time?

03

Sales, pricing and agreements

Do pricing, discounts, sales channels and customer agreements support the business you want to build?

04

Organisation and resources

Are responsibilities, capabilities and resources placed where they create the greatest impact?

05

Processes and decisions

Are routines, systems or habits making the business harder to run than necessary?

06

Leadership and collaboration

Are ambiguity, individuals or company culture consuming a disproportionate amount of management attention?

The outcome

Not a report. A priority.

The objective is not to identify twenty things that could be improved.

It is to identify the few things that matter most.

01

What is working well and should be protected?

02

What is holding the business back?

03

What should be addressed first?

04

What can wait?

And most importantly: What should actually happen next?

What happens next

Sometimes the conversation is enough

This does not automatically have to turn into a large consulting project.

Sometimes the most valuable thing is simply to get an experienced outside perspective and put structure around something you have already been thinking about.

If further support is needed, I can also help drive the changes.

That may be as a sounding board, project lead or as a more active part of the implementation.

But the first objective is always the same: to identify what is genuinely worth doing something about.

About Henrik

An outside perspective – with inside experience

I have spent more than 30 years working with leadership, sales, marketing, products and commercial development – as an executive, an entrepreneur and within companies in Denmark and internationally.

That does not mean I know your business better than you do. Quite the opposite. You know the business.

My role is to ask the questions, challenge some of the established explanations and help identify patterns that can be difficult to see when you are part of the business every day.

I work in a practical and operational way. And I am particularly interested in the point where strategy meets reality.

My experience spans strategy and leadership, sales, products, pricing, organisation and practical implementation.
